The Lead Technician will report to the IPT Coach (Integrated Production Team Manager) and will be part of the IPT function at MSD. The Lead Technician will be responsible for co-ordination of daily activities for a production shift team. Ensures the various production related tasks are effectively performed.

Duties include:

Designates for the IPT Coach as appropriate.
Acts as role model, facilitator, trainer and mentor to production team members and actively supports the team and it’s members to learn, develop and improve performance.
Is a sponsor for safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
Coordinates daily activities including assignment of tasks and resources to ensure adherence to production schedule.
Sponsors and drives initiatives to improve production metrics.
Co-ordinates shift handover and standard Tier meetings for shift team.
Leads initiatives/projects to minimize process equipment downtime and collaborates closely with the site maintenance team are same.
Is a subject matter expert (SME) on the utilisation of the technology systems that drive production. Systems include, yet are not limited to, SAP and MES.
Is an SME for the operation of process equipment.
Manages equipment flow including tracking soiled and clean hold times, proper labeling and inventory management of clean and sterile equipment.
Process equipment includes, yet is not limited to, parts washers, autoclaves, portable tank CIP/SIP/storage panels, Vial Washer, Depyro Tunnel, Debagger and filling machines.
Drives continuous improvement using Lean Principles and applies MPS methodology to problem solve and process improve.
Drives compliance to SOPs (standard operating procedures) and participates in writing/revising/ rolling out of accurate operational procedures, training documents and maintenance procedures for various production systems.
Holds team accountable for performing duties in line with same.


Typical Minimum Education:
Leaving Certificate or equivalent required
Third level Degree preferred; ideally in Engineering, Science or a related discipline
Typical Minimum Experience:
5 yrs operations experience in a manufacturing environment
