A Senior English Editor may report to the Head of English Editorial Department if the position exists within an office or directly to Client Servicing Directors or the Group Client Servicing Director and is responsible for writing the most challenging/complex English editorial content for clients within an office. He/she may be responsible for inducting and overseeing the work of less experienced English editorial writers. A Senior English Editor should understand the editorial requirements of his/her clients, including specialist vocabulary and terminology, technical, financial and market background. His/her English editorial output should be newsworthy, impactful, accurate, well-written and according to client briefs. He/she is responsible to align English editorial content with Arabic content. In the event that an editorial is translated into English from Arabic, it is critical that the translation is accurate and that the final edited version reads as if it has been originally written in English.
A Senior English Editor should have at least 3 years of experience as a journalist and/or features writer and at least 18 months experience working as a public relations editorial writer. He/she should have strong literary and research skills. A Senior English Editor should have strong proof-reading skills .
