Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in stock levels, and supporting operations by providing reliable inventory data.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inventory Management:
• Monitor and maintain current inventory levels.
• Conduct regular physical counts and reconcile with the inventory management system.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and computer records.
• Oversee and manage the receipt, storage, and issuance of products.
• Data Entry and Reporting:
• Record and update inventory records in the database.
• Generate and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and distribute inventory reports to management and relevant departments.
• Coordination:
• Coordinate with procurement, sales, and production departments to ensure accurate inventory levels.
• Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding orders, deliveries, and discrepancies.
• Work with the warehouse and logistics team to optimize storage and distribution processes.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and quality.
• Ensure inventory is stored in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
• Implement and maintain proper labeling and tagging of inventory items.
• System Maintenance:
• Maintain and update the inventory management software.
• Troubleshoot system issues and work with IT to resolve them.
• Train new staff on inventory control processes and systems.
• Process Improvement:
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.
• Develop and update inventory control procedures and policies.
• Conduct audits and provide recommendations for inventory management improvements.
Qualifications:
• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience:
• Proven experience as an Inventory Control Specialist or similar role preferably in the retail industry.
• Familiarity with inventory management software (PIMS).
• Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
