The Clinical Screening Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth progression of patient appointments within
the clinical setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting initial patient screenings, collecting
relevant medical information, and ensuring that patients meet the necessary criteria for specific medical procedures or
treatments. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical terminology, and a
commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments of patients to gather information about their health history,
current symptoms, and treatment needs. This includes taking detailed notes on patients' medical history, current
complaints, and any relevant information that may affect their treatment plan.
2. Engage in empathetic and non-judgmental interactions with patients over the phone to gather relevant information
about their concerns. This involves actively listening to patients' needs and providing them with support and
reassurance.
3. Accurately and thoroughly document patient assessments, including signs and symptoms, previous treatment
regimens, and treatment expectations, in accordance with legal and ethical standards. This ensures that all relevant
information is properly recorded and can be easily accessed by other healthcare professionals.
4. Maintain accurate records of patient interactions, including detailed notes of conversations and actions taken.
Enter data into electronic systems with precision and attention to detail to ensure that all information is recorded
accurately and can be easily retrieved when needed.
5. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patients' questions, concerns, and requests promptly and
accurately. This involves being knowledgeable about the services offered and being able to provide patients with
the information they need to make informed decisions about their healthcare.
6. Perform other duties as assigned. This may include assisting with administrative tasks, participating in quality
improvement initiatives, or providing support to other members of the clinical team.
Qualifications:
● Professional proficiency in English. Proficiency in Spanish is a bonus.
● Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g, Nursing, Pharmacy, Bioinformatics, Healthcare Administration, Medical
Assisting) or equivalent experience.
● Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a clinical screening or patient assessment role.
● Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
● Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry and experience with electronic medical records systems.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy.
