Surgical Coordinator plays a crucial role in coordinating all aspects of surgical procedures within a
medical facility. This position is responsible for managing the surgical scheduling process, from initial patient contact to
post-operative care. The Surgical Scheduler must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as
proficiency in relevant software systems. This role operates within a professional medical office environment and requires
both desk-bound and active engagement with patients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
1. Serve as a point of contact for all surgical patients, handling inquiries and communication between the
spanish-speaking patients, our doctors, and the surgical facilities we collaborate with.
2. Connect with patients remotely to schedule and discuss the doctor’s surgical plans. This includes sending all
consents, pre-and post-surgery medication orders and upselling surgical options, if applicable.
3. Work with respective surgical facilities to ensure necessary administrative clearance is obtained in sync with
facility deadlines.
4. Work with the patient's insurance company to obtain all necessary information and authorization for payment.
5. Work directly with the patients, answering questions, following-up on necessary paperwork and clearances,
confirming the schedules and collecting payment.
6. Prepare and finalize the patient's surgical chart ensuring all missing paperwork is completed.
7. Work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively with the team to ensure everything is completed on time
and communicated properly.
8. Proactively stay ahead of deadlines and anticipate any potential issues.
9. Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to enhance company processes and operations.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
● Full professional proficiency in both Spanish and English.
● Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally and
compassionately with patients and colleagues.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
● Proficiency in computer skills, including fast and accurate data entry.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and information
security.
● Prior experience in a healthcare setting or customer service role is preferred, but not required. Training will be
provided for the right candidate.
