The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, and automated systems used in poultry houses and farm facilities. This role ensures continuous operation of equipment related to feeding, watering, ventilation, climate control, lighting, and processing systems, while upholding safety, biosecurity, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on farm equipment such as:
Ventilation systems (fans, inlets, heaters, coolers)
Feed lines, augers, and motors
Watering systems and pumps
Egg collection equipment (for layer farms)
Brooding and heating systems
Lighting and control systems
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out timely repairs.
2. Electrical Systems
Inspect, repair, and install electrical components including wiring, switches, relays, starters, and circuit breakers.
Maintain and troubleshoot control panels, sensors, timers, and automation systems.
Ensure electrical safety compliance and proper grounding of all equipment.
3. Mechanical Systems
Maintain motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, and other mechanical components.
Repair mechanical failures in conveyors, augers, fans, and moving equipment.
Calibrate and adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
4. Climate & Environmental Control
Monitor and maintain automated climate control systems, including:
Temperature controllers
Humidity sensors
Cooling pads and heaters
Ensure proper function of ventilation and air quality systems to support flock health.
5. Preventive Maintenance Planning
Follow scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) plans to reduce downtime.
Keep logs of repairs, inspections, and parts used.
Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
6. Safety, Compliance & Biosecurity
Follow safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
Adhere to biosecurity procedures when entering poultry houses and restricted areas.
Ensure equipment meets health and environmental standards.
7. Inventory & Spare Parts Management
Track and manage essential spare parts and maintenance materials.
Report low stock levels and assist in procurement planning.
Maintain tools and ensure availability for work tasks.
8. Support & Coordination
Work closely with farm supervisors, production managers, and external technicians.
Provide technical support during flock placement, brooding, and high-demand periods.
Assist during installation or upgrades of equipment and automation systems.
