Description


Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all financial aspects of our projects and operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial management, and construction industry practices, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
2. Monitor projects budgets, costs, and revenue recognition. Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting for ongoing construction projects.
3. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
4. Logging of accruals, prepayments, and provisions as per needed.
5. Ensure periodic bank reconciliations, tracking of credit facilities and loans, and confirm interests and commission fees are as per agreements.
6. Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing and reviewing financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
7. Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations, and ensure governmental declarations in accurate and timely manner.
8. Manage accounts payable processes, including reviewing and approving vendor invoices and coordinating payments to subcontractors and suppliers based on project progress reports.
9. Manage accounts receivables, including periodic SOA reconciliations, collection, and aging reports.
10. Register fixed assets and associated depreciation.
11. Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
12. Manage and control payroll and human resources related expenditures.
13. Enforce and oversee inventory control procedures, and perform inventory counts periodically. Investigate and adjust system levels accordingly.
14. Coordinate and support external audits, providing auditors with the necessary documentation and explanations as required.
15. liaise with external auditors to ensure complete implementation of approved accounting transformation plan.
16. Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and areas for operational improvement.
17. Manage the accounting team, distribute responsibilities and tasks between team members efficiently.
18. Mentor the accounting team, provide guidance, performance evaluations, and conduct or suggest needed trainings to improve performance.
19. Continuously identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
20. Stay updated on industry regulations, accounting standards, and best practices, ensuring the company's financial practices remain compliant.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred.
2. Proven experience (7+ years) in accounting or finance roles, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in the construction industry.
3. Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, project cost tracking, and revenue recognition.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
5. Prior experience managing a team and demonstrated leadership abilities.
6. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
7. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
9. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
10. Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
11. Fluency in French language is a plus.
